End of June 2012, Race Catch-up

While some of us were on vacation, others were busy racing.  So, here we go with an attempt to catch up.

6-23-12 - Meadowfest mad Dash 5k

Congratulations to Mario Minelli who not only turned in an overall win and a PR of 17:02, but also invented his own new type of duathlon by riding 30 miles to and from the race!

One problem with winning a race you rode to... Hauling back a big crockery trophy!

6-23-12 Kickapoo Kicker

The second in the Wisconsin Triple Crown bike ride series is in the books.  Six members rode one step closer to their finisher's jerseys.

6-24-12 Lake Waconia Triathlon

Lake Waconia is a longish sprint-distance tri with a 0.5 mile swim, 20 mile bike, and 4 mile run.  This race tends to bring out a strong elite field and this year that trend continued.  TriRochester's Alex Hooke placed second in the elite competition.  His 10:39 swim, 46:18 bike, and 24:44 run gave him 6th, 2nd, and 10th best times respectively.

6-24-12 Ironman Coer d'Alene

Big congratulations to Bill Nevala for completing his first Ironman.  It was a tough day with 55-degree rough water kicking things off.  Way to go Bill!

7-1-12 North Mankato Sprint Triathlon

Our friends at FinalStretch stepped in this year to keep the North Mankato Triathlon going strong and added what looks to have been a really great kids tri.  Several members competed in the Sprint Tri which had a 0.25 mile swim, 12 mile bike and a 3 mile run.
